Who would have ever thought that a California girl and Wyoming boy would end up together?  And meet in Kentucky to boot?

We were friends long before we got together.  We met back in April 2012 at a GE sales meeting in Louisville, KY.  Eric was in town from Northern California and Heather still lived in Louisville at the time.  We were placed in the same group at the conference, and spent the entire week getting to know each other.  Eric was very persistent.

When the week was over, Heather did some heavy "recon" and got a hold of his phone number then wished him a safe flight home.  For the next several months, we flirted on the phone everyday.

Thinking long distance was never going to work, things fizzled until Heather was promoted and moved out to San Francisco in April 2013, exactly 1 year after we met.  Because we both still worked for GE at the time, we ended up at several trainings together.  Our friendship reignited, but this time with a little more fire than before.

May 11, 2013 we had our first kiss.  Eric took Heather out for a night on the town including a stop at a wine bar.  There was an acoustic guitarist playing and Eric asked if he could play a bit.  Heather warned him "If you play 'Blackbird' by the Beatles, I may not be able to resist falling for you."  And what followed? "Blackbird", a first kiss, and the start of our adventures together.

In June 2013, Eric moved to Denver, CO with a new company and we decided to finally give this long distance thing a try.  We made it work, seeing each other usually twice a month.  But after 6 months of too many hard goodbyes, Eric made the decision to move back to San Francisco so we could be together.

We moved into our first apartment together on February 1, 2014 in Emeryville, CA.  It was a cute little 1-Bedroom apartment with a great view.  It is one we will always fondly remember as the apartment in which whenever we opened the oven, the smoke alarm would go off.  Heather swears it wasn't her cooking.

At the end of 2014, Eric surprised Heather by getting down on one knee in Louisville, KY on the day after Christmas.  Surrounded by Heather's family, Eric's family on Facetime, and strangers applauding, it was a complete surprise to Heather, but it was perfect.

We have now moved down to Southern California and are looking forward to getting married in 2016 . . . only 4 years after we met for the first time.

Now don't get us wrong, there has been A LOT more in between all of that . . . but those are the Cliff's Notes.  It may have taken a little bit for us to finally get together, and if you ask Eric, he will tell you that he "pursued Heather for over a YEAR before she finally gave in."  But looking back, we wouldn't have changed anything.

We have a blast together, and there is never a quiet moment between the two of us.  We motivate and inspire each other; we support and challenge each other.  He makes her laugh, or at least roll her eyes at his jokes.  We love to cook and eat delicious food, share a bottle of wine, and just enjoy each others' company.

We are so excited for our families to come together and to have the Kirschs and Johnsons meet up in Mexico to help us celebrate the happiest day of our lives.
